A helping hand, a hug in a box, welcome to the world of self discovery and Journalling!
At the end of a wonderful summer spent with family and friends, Liz co-founder of Beautifully Handcrafted, suddenly and unexpectedly felt unwell.
Following an initial doctor’s appointment and brief hospital stay, her health deteriorated further. Infection and sepsis ripped through her body and left her fighting for her life.
Her liver failed and she was rushed through the process of being assessed for a transplant. Her life now depended on a family she had never met, in the midst of their own grief making the decision to uphold the wishes of their loved one and agree to their organs being donated.
With only hours left to live she received the call that she and so many had wished and prayed for. A match had been found!
After the initial surgery a post operative bleed again left her life hanging in the balance. The skill and expertise of the medics, weeks in ITU and months in recovery would give her a second chance at life. Unfortunately all the scars weren’t just physical, she would need to process what had happened.
One tool she used to help her
on this journey was journaling.
By her own admission she admits that she never thought that she would be one to keep a written log of events or a journal, and was pleasantly surprised by the positive impact it had on helping her process such a difficult series of events and the subsequent benefits to her mental health.
She has now, along with the team at Beautifully Handcrafted created a series of products, to help encourage others to be brave enough to try journaling and create a space and time to reflect and when ready start to make goals and plans to embrace the future once more.
With the concept of journaling at the centre, we hope that our clients will too be able to embrace the same positive impact in their own lives. Also providing a thoughtful gift for a friend or family member who may have faced some kind of trauma or is considering a life change and just needs a helping hand, a tool to help them through that process.
